Choosing Compatible Pipette Tips

Choosing the right kind of pipette tip can make or break your experiment. The wrong choice can waste sample and reagents, or even cause RSI!

We offer compatible tips designed to fit many pipettors, either packaged in bulk or autoclavable racks. Made from prime virgin polypropylene, these tips will provide high accuracy and reproducibility in your lab.

Sterile
If you want to ensure that your liquids and samples remain free of contamination, choose sterile pipette tips. These specialized tips are sterilized in an autoclave to help prevent the possibility of cross-contamination or damage from liquid entering the lower part of your pipette.

Choosing a tip with a proper fit is vital for accuracy and repeatability of results. A poor fit could cause liquids to leak from the tip resulting in inaccurate or imprecise results.

A good fit can also improve ergonomics and reduce strain on the arm, wrist and fingers by lowering ejection forces. In addition, a well-fitting tip is less likely to become damaged from repeated use.

Tip quality and compatibility
The first factor affecting tip quality is the type of polypropylene used to produce the tips. High quality tips are made from virgin polypropylene, meaning that they are free of plastic and metal additives that could contaminate your liquid.

Another factor influencing tip quality is the injection molding machine. The slightest batch-to-batch or within-batch variations in straightness, molding flash or streaking could have a negative impact on pipetting performance.

Ideally, you should only use pipette tips that have been tested and validated by your pipette manufacturer to guarantee the highest level of consistency in their performance. It is also important to gravimetrically test these tips to ensure they are performing at their best.

Sterile standard pipette tips are ideal for a wide range of applications where accurate, precise liquid handling is essential. These are available in a range of lengths to match a wide variety of pipettes and are compatible with most brands.

These sterile, low retention standard pipette tips are designed for automated liquid handling systems. They offer low binding properties and are DNase, RNase and Pyrogen free certified.

CAPP filtered pipette tips are high quality, dimensionally consistent, and have a great finish. They are designed for critical applications such as molecular biology and clinical and life sciences, and are sterile, RNase, DNase and Pyrogen free certified.

The filtered tips are 3-4 times smaller than many other types of filtered tips, so they are the perfect solution for small volumes in molecular biological liquid handling.

Filter tips are a cost effective solution for low volume genetic studies, forensics, PCR and radioisotope sampling. They are available with either self-sealing barriers or standard filter tips, both of which prevent cross-contamination from aerosols penetrating the pipette tip cone during pipetting.

ART (Aerosol Resistant) filters are specifically designed for genetic and DNA work, tissue culture, PCR and radioactive sampling. ART filters contain a hydrophobic, self-sealing barrier that prevents contaminated sample from entering the filter cone.

These sterile, non-cytotoxic, low-retention filtered pipette tips are designed for automated, robotic liquid handling systems. They are DNase, RNase and Pyrogen-free certified and crystal clear to provide a clean environment for the lab.
